Summary:
Showing matrix/indirect reporting in OrgPublisher is done through creating records that contain information of the matrix reporting.
When a record's field 4 is an I, IE, IM, or IC (all purpose indirect, indirect employee, indirect manager, indirect contractor), OrgPublisher understands that they are matrix/indirect records and by default, their box and connecting line are dotted. For example, looking these records:
,"1","Box 1","B",,,,,,,,,,,,,"30320020000",,
"1","2","Box 2","M",500,"Manager1",,,"1","Job Title 1",,"1",,,,,"30120000000",,
"1","3","Box 3","M",501,"Manager2",,,"1","Job Title 1",,"2",,,,,"30100020000",,
"2","4","Box 4","M","123","John Doe",,,"1","Job Title 1",,"1",,,,,"30010000000",,
"1","5","Box 5","M",502,"Manager3",,,"1","Job Title 1",,,,,,,,,
"4","6","Box 6","E",100,"Sam 1",,,"1","Job Title 1",,,,,,,,,
"3","6i","Box 7","I",100,"Sam 1",,,"1","Job Title 1",,,,,,,,,
You can see that Sam appears twice in the data set. Once as a direct (field 4 = "E") and another when his field 4 is "I". What this does is to make his box dotted and his line dotted:
Additionally, notice that in the 2nd instance of Sam, the box id has an "i" appended to it. This is because you must make the BoxID's involved in a matrix/indirect reporting scenario unique - you can use some other convention such as appending "99999" as a prefix or suffix to indicate a matrix record - this will have to be done via your data extract process.
Note: indirect records are not counted against your licensed charting level.
Typically, you will want to see who a person in a matrix/indirect reporting situation also reports to. For that to happen, the requirement is that you populate Field 5 with the same value that is unique to the person such as employee ID.
In the example above, note that in field 5 for Sam's records, both have a value of "100". This lets OrgPublisher know that those records are referring to the same person and to display the "also reports to" indicator:
In the chart, when you click on that icon, you will see a call out box that shows who that person also reports to. In this example, Gregory also reports to Laura:
When you click on the "Laura F Grape" hyperlink, it will take you to the other instance of Gregory:
