How to create an .odbx file

Applicable Product:

  • OrgPublisher

Applicable Release:

  • 11.x and earlier

Summary:

Using .odbx files instead of .ocb, .csv, .txt files allows you to have different charts that have the same base text file.

Here are the steps to change a chart that is based on a .ocb, .csv, .txt file into an .odbx file:

*Note: make sure you make a copy of the .otm file for the chart you are affecting before starting

  1. Open the chart in OrgPublisher
  2. Click on Data-->Manage data sources
  3. Click on "Properties"
  4. Click on "Next" 2 times
  5. This will put in the "Layout Order" screen - choose the "Specify custom field order" option and click "Next"
  6. In the "Field Mapping" step, click on the "Apply Mapping by Field Position" button:
  7. Click "Next" 2 times
  8. Click "Finish"
  9. Click "Close" - you should now see that the chart's file name now ends in .odbx:
  10. Save the chart to your "SourceChars" folder
  11. Next, click on Data-->Manage data sources again
  12. Click on "Properties"
  13. This time browse to the csv file you want to use, select it, and Open it
  14. Then just click "Next" all the way to the end without changing anything
  15. Click "Finish", then "Close"
  16. Save your chart
