Summary:
This article demonstrates how to assign a Quick Search Field in the toolbar.
Chart administrators or end-users may find the need to assign fields to the quick Search feature. The fields added allow chart users to search on these fields when entering values in the Quick Search field. Users with the appropriate permissions can select a field to be searched when chart users type an entry into the Quick Search field on the Toolbar.
Fields used for Quick Search must be:
- Defined as Text or Email type in the chart
- Assigned to a position
- Searchable
- Unsecured
You can select the field to search in when a user enters a value in the Quick Search in the Toolbar.
Caution: It is possible to select a field that you do not include in the Search Results window. If you do that, a user who changes their search criteria in the Search Results window may not be aware that their results are filtered by the original Quick Search criteria. The user must click Clear in the Search dialog box to remove all filter criteria before they will see all possible results.
To assign a Quick Search Field:
1. To access the Search options, go to Home > Web Apps > Web App Name > Chart Name > General.
The Edit Chart page appears. Search options are in the Toolbar section of the page.
2. In the Quick Search Field, select a value.
3. Click Save to save and close, or click Apply to save your changes and continue editing the chart options.
