How OrgPublisher's "Windows Authentication" works
Applicable Product:
- OrgPublisher
Applicable Release:
- V21.x and later
- 11.x and earlier
Summary:
OrgPublisher's "Windows Authentication" functionality is not to be confused with how Microsoft Windows authentication works.
Note: in legacy OrgPublisher (v11.15.13 and earlier), "Windows Authentication" is known as "Active Directory authentication".
This is how OrgPublisher's charts that use its "Windows Authentication" functionality work:
- When a user hits the chart URL, the published chart sends a request to the browser to get the AD ID the user used to log into your network.
- That AD ID is then sent back to the server, where the chart does a lookup in the data set, in particular, the custom field in which the user ID is stored.
- If the user ID is found, then the person is allowed into the chart; otherwise, they will see an "unauthorized" message.
