Summary:
Successor records are by default set to not show.  In order to have them show in the chart, there are 2 areas to look at:

1. In the "Visbility" tab (Home-->Web App-->Chart-->View-->Format and Visibility-->Visibility:
   
   The Successor box must be checked here.
2. If it is an unsecured charting web app, that is all you will need to do.  This is because in the "View Security" tab, the options to hide successors are greyed out, i.e. they are not in play so successors will be displayed:
   
    
3. If you are using a secured chart, you must choose the correct option(s) based on the Security Group that you have chosen - for example, for the Everyone group, the Successors will not show but they will show for the Planners Grp group:
   
    
4. Make sure to save the changes and re-publish the chart
