This article explains how the Remaining Budget field is calculated in Off-Cycle Reward Cycle

Details:

The calculation for Off-Cycle reward cycle for the "Remaining Budget" field is slightly different than normal Reward Cycle.  

The formula is: Remaining = Budget - Spent - Recommended

Spent is added to the Budget Transaction when the Budget is charged to the reward cycle.  This is configured within the workflow state

"Charge Budget" can be checked in any workflow state, and after that, the award will be included in the spent value. Be cautious that this will still be in the "Recommended Bonus" on the form and included on the Remaining Budget if the Charge is done early in the workflow state.

For example,

There is only 1 person in this Off-Cycle, and the budget is 100000

At the first stage, we added a recommendation of 3576.11, the remaining is 96423.89.

We submit to the second stage of workflow, where charge budget is selected.

The Remaining budget becomes 92847.78 as it counted the recommend again in this stage.
