PluginX and EChart Rich charts browser compatibility

Applicable Product:

  • OrgPublisher

Applicable Release:

  • 11.x

Summary:

PluginX and EChart Rich charts can only be viewed in Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge running in IE mode.  This is because Chrome, Firefox, and Safari do not offer ActiveX control support.

If you need to view your chart in Chrome, Firefox, or Safari, you will have to publish your chart as HTML5 (available in OrgPublisher 11.9-11.15.13), or EChart Thin.

Here's how you publish your chart as HTML5

  1. Start up the legacy OrgPublisher and open your chart like you normally do
  2. Click on File-->Publish
  3. If you see a publishing definition that says "HTML5" in the "Publish As" column, make a note of where the publish location is by clicking on the HTML5 publishing definition and then noting the "Publish where" path - you will need this path for the migration process:
  4. If you do not have an HTML5 publishing definition, click the "New" button
  5. Go through the publishing wizard and choose the "Advacned Mode" and then choose HTML5 option and go through the steps
  6. When you get to the "Publish Location" step, you can just create a folder on the desktop as the location to which you publish the chart
  7. Finish up the wizard and publish the chart

Setting up your HTML5 charts in IIS

  1. Ensure that your server has the requisite IIS components installed.  Please consult this document:
    https://logos.peoplefluent.net/orgpub/legacy/HTML5RequirementsforIIS.pdf
  2. Download and install the HTML5 component on the server where the published charts reside; this is usually the same server on which OrgPublisher is installed:
    https://logos.peoplefluent.net/orgpub/PF.WPA.OrgPublisher.OrgSetup.msi

Once installed, you will see a new icon on your server's desktop.  Please consult this document on how set up the HTML5Admin and charting instances:
