Purpose
This checklist provides a step-by-step validation guide to safely apply a new LMS license and handle encrypted passwords correctly. It is intended to prevent startup failures, authentication errors, and post-license configuration issues.
Use this checklist during license renewals, replacements, or upgrades.
Pre-License Change Checklist
☐ Back up ekp.properties
Create a secure backup before making any changes
☐ Identify encrypted properties
Database credentials (
default.encryptedPassword)SMTP, LDAP, SSO, JMS, payment, or external integration passwords
☐ Obtain plain text credentials
Ensure all required passwords are available and verified
☐ Restrict access
Confirm only authorized administrators can access the file during the change
License Change Execution Checklist
☐ Revert encrypted passwords to plain text
Remove or comment out encrypted properties
Restore corresponding plain text values
☐ Save and verify ekp.properties
Check for typos, extra spaces, or formatting issues
☐ Apply the new LMS license
Follow standard license application procedure
☐ Start or restart the LMS service
Allow the system to fully initialize
☐ Confirm successful startup
