Test Auto Enroll Behavior

Applicable Product:

  • Learning

Applicable Release:

  • All versions

Summary

When using the Test Auto Enroll button, the resulting list may include users who are:

  • Already enrolled

  • Already completed

  • Enrolled in courses that do not allow re-enrollment

This behavior is expected.

Why This Happens

The Test Auto Enroll function only checks whether users meet the configured criteria (such as organization, user group, user attributes, etc..). It does not evaluate transcript data, enrollment status, or completion history.

What Happens During Actual Auto Enrollment

When the auto enrollment task runs:

  • Users who have already completed the course will be skipped

  • Users who are already enrolled with a status of In Process or Not Started will also be skipped

  • Only eligible users who are not already enrolled or completed will be enrolled

This ensures that:

  • Re-enrollment rules are respected

  • Duplicate enrollments are avoided

Best Practice Recommendation

  • Use Test Auto Enroll to validate criteria logic only

  • Do not rely on the test results to reflect final enrollment outcomes
