Missing or Changed Formatting

Applicable Product:

  • OrgPublisher

Applicable Release:

  • 11.x

Summary:

Problem: When I open a chart, my formatting has changed or disappeared.

Solution  Formatting information is stored in the .OTM file associated with each chart.  If the OTM file is not present or if a different OTM is associated with the chart the formatting will disappear or change.

Open the SourceCharts folder and look for the chart with the changed or missing formatting.  Check to see if an OTM file is present with the same name as the chart.  For example a chart named "sample" would have  the sample.ocb/sample.csv/sample.txt and the sample.otm files present.
NOTE:  make sure you have the file extensions showing in File Explorer.

The OTM file contains just the formatting you set up such as background colours, etc.

To restore the correct or missing formatting:

  1. If you have another chart with the correct formatting you can make a copy of that OTM file and rename it to <chartname>.otm.In the example you would use sample.otm.

  2. If you don't have another chart with the correct formatting you should check the recycle bin and/or do a search for the missing OTM file. If you find it you can move it back into the Source Chart folder.

  3. If both #1 and #2 fail to locate the proper OTM file you will need to recreate the formatting from scratch or use another OTM file and modify the formatting to suit your needs.

An additional cause of "formatting has changed" is with formatting by position type.  Take note of the position types to which formatting has been applied. If you formatted your boxes and then refreshed the data and your boxes lack formatting, click on a person's name in a box and look at the bottom left-hand corner of your screen to see what position type the person has:

If your previous formatting was done to the "Manager" position type and the person you clicked on is considered an "Employee" position type, then you haven't really lost your formatting, rather you need to format your Employee position type to look as you want or you need to update the position type of the person so they may take on the formatting you expect.
