How to copy goal(s) forward from current cycle to another

Summary
PeopleFluent Performance allows goals to be copied forward to other performance management plans. For example, during a face-to-face meeting with an employee, a manager decides that a particular goal is not relevant to the current cycle and wants to move it into the next cycle. The manager copies the goal, changing some aspects of it to apply it to the new cycle, and the modified copy of the goal is added to the employee's goals in the new cycle.

To configure an evaluation form for copy goal forward
- Go to Primary Navigation Menu > Talent Management Administration > Performance Administration > Performance Management and click Edit next to the plan you want to configure.
- In the left tab list, click the evaluation form you want to configure.
- In the Goals section, click Configure fields for this section.
- Do one or both of the following:
- In the section header, add the Copy Goals Forward (Bulk) { Copy Goals Forward } field.
- In the item header, add the Copy Goal Forward (Individual) { Copy Goal Forward } field.
- Click Save.
The selected fields are added to the form.
2. Configure the Goal Copy Form in Source plan.
- Under Goal Setting Form Configuration, click Goal Copy Form.
- In the Goals section, click Configure fields for this section.
- Add and remove the fields appropriate to your business needs. Remember that the fields configured on this form control what data is copied to the destination plan.
Administrators should keep this form in sync with the goal forms used in the destination plan. Otherwise data could be copied that is not visible on the end-users' forms, but displayed on SmartGrids and Ad Hoc Reports.
- Click Save.
The form is configured.
Note for Administrators: In order for the 'Copy Goals Forward' button to be activated, you must set the form permissions in the desired state(s) to 'As Configured'
Copying Goals Forward
In order to copy goals forward, end-users will open the evaluation form using any method available to them, such as clicking a link in the My Tasks widget on My Dashboard. If the administrator has configured the forms properly, the end-user follows these procedures.
To copy a goal forward
- Go to Primary Navigation Menu > Performance > Performance Management and select the appropriate evaluation form.
- In the Goals section, click Copy Goal Forward on the individual goal header. Select Plan to Copy Forward dialog box appears.
- Click on Select the Target Plan icon. Select the target plan dialog box appears. Filter the list of plans as needed and select the target plan.
- Click OK. The goal appears in Select Plan to Copy Forward dialog box.
- Edit the fields of the goal as needed to make the goal applicable in the new goal cycle.
- Click Finish
The selected goal is copied forward.
To copy multiple goals forward
- Go to Primary Navigation Menu > Performance > Performance Management and select the appropriate evaluation form.
- In the Goals section, click Copy Goals Forward on the Goals section header. Select Goals to Copy Forward dialog box appears.
- Select the goals to copy forward for this employee, and then click OK.
- The Select Plan to Copy Forward dialog box appears.
- Click on Select the Target Plan icon. Select the target plan dialog box appears, listing plans with active goal setting processes (plans in which employees are initiated into a goal setting process).
- Filter the list of plans as needed and select the target plan.
- Click OK. The goals appear in the Select Plan to Copy Forward dialog box.
- For each goal, edit the fields as needed to make the goal applicable in the new goal cycle.
- Click Finish.
The selected goals are copied forward.
Notes:
- Participant must be initiated on the Destination plan Goal Setting workflow process for selecting the Target Plan while copying the goals.
- If a goal attribute is not configured on the destination plan goal forms, it will not be copied forward, even if it is configured on the source plan copy goal form. This is to avoid data being copied forward that is not applicable to the destination plan. The same is true of goal categories and goal types.
- When a goal is copied forward, the status of the copied goal is changed to "Carried Forward" to show that it has been copied.
- The status of the new goal is set to "Active" if the manager copied the goal, and "Pending" if anyone else copied it.
- Development activities associated with a copied goal are copied along with the goal. If the administrator has included the Development Activities form field in the Copy Goal form, the employee will be able to view, add, and remove development activities to the goal.
- Alignments to individual or organizational goals are not copied to the new cycle, since they relate to the prior cycle.
- Rating fields are not copied, since the goal will be rated in the new plan.
