Detailed Information
User reports that when printing a performance form, it is observed that the form fields are right or left shifted. This solution describes how administrators can troubleshoot and resolve this situation.
One of the most common causes of this issue is the insertion of Excel row data into the performance form. As an administrator you can copy the data, remove the problem data from the form, and reinsert as text.
First, let's look at an example. Note the field shift in the PDF:
Right Shift: | |
Left Shift: |
Step-by-step troubleshooting actions
1. As an administrator, open the affected participant form. You can do this by proxy or using administrator privilege.
2. Peruse the form. You are looking for a field that has a horizontal scroll bar
3. If you see the scroll bar, you will need to take corrective action to modify the data.
Note the field label. Is this manager or employee entered data? You will need this information when determining the appropriate corrective action steps.
Corrective Action Steps
Here, you have two options:
- Request that the user that entered the data make the appropriate corrections. In order to facilitate this option, the administrator will need to either move the participant to a workflow state where the user has Read/Write access to the field or set the appropriate form permissions for the role in the current state. Example: If this is employee entered data, you could set the participant role form and form permission to ‘Self Evaluation’ and ‘As Configured’ respectively.
- As an administrator, you can modify the data. You’ll need to set the ‘Other’ role form permission in the participant current state to ‘Editable’ to make the changes.
Once you decide on one of the above options, the form needs to be accessed and the data modified.
- Open the affected participant form using the desired method: Performance dashboard widget, Employee find (click on vcard) Locate the problem data. {Hint: Look for field with a horizontal scroll bar}
- Copy ALL data in field to an external target. {Options are: Word Doc, Word Pad, or Notepad}
- Edit data in the target file to remove or reformat the problem data. If reformatting, you'll want to convert to text data.
NOTE: Be aware that if using "Notepad' for editing, some formatting may be lost
Delete all data from the field
Paste data back into the field in a text form
Upon completion, SAVE and print the form. The printed data should now be aligned.
