How to Add Custom Position Type

Applicable Product:

  • OrgPublisher

Applicable Release:

  • V21 or later

Summary:

The articles demonstrate how chart administrators add new custom position types to their organizational charts. Position types can be used to categorize employees for creating an organizational hierarchy.

Users with the appropriate permissions can use position types as a criteria to:

  1. Format boxes
  2. Count records
  3. Filter and search for people
  4. Summarize numeric data
  5. Display data in chart boxes
  6. Display chart boxes

PeopleFluent OrgPublisher provides the following standard position types:

  • Manager
  • Employee
  • Assistant
  • Contractor
  • Indirect Report
  • Partner
  • Staff Function
  • Successor

You can create custom position types to better match a position within your company. The position type and record types determine the order of positions within a single box. You can set a default position type to be applied if a record does not have a record type in the chart's data source.

Additionally, you can assign a group, based on attributes, to create a conditional position type. You can then use conditional formatting to increase visibility of that group in your chart.

Note: Conditional position types are used for formatting purposes only and do not override a position type pulled from a chart's data source.
