Detailed Information:
This feature helps to connect people around developmental goals/targets, by extending the development planning module to support a mentorship. These developmental targets can be associated with goals, competencies, overall performance, talent assessment, career aspirations, and succession plans. This allows employees to get the most out of each mentorship relationship by linking all applicable developmental targets with the mentor who can provide guidance in each of these areas.
How to Add a Mentor
Employees and managers can add a mentorship activity to foster employee growth and development. Mentorship activities can be added in all areas where a normal development activity can be added. This procedure is for adding a mentorship activity from the Talent Profile.
To add a mentorship activity:
To to Primary Navigation Menu > Talent Profile and click the Development tab. In the Current Development Activities section, click Add. Select "Add a Mentor".
The "Add a Mentorship Activity" dialog box appears. Complete the the fields in the Add a Mentorship dialog box as needed.
NOTE - You MUST 'Save' the activity BEFORE selecting a mentor.
In the Add a Mentorship Activity dialog box, there is a Find a Mentor section to the right. Click the Select icon. A wizard opens to step one: Assign a Mentor.
In the wizard's 'Choose a Mentor' dialog box, a list of employees appears. Use the filters at the top of the list to find an employee to be your Mentor then click Continue.
The wizard moves to step two: 'Contact Your Mentor'. In the wizard's 'Contact Your Mentor' dialog box, an email form is presented, pre-populated with details from the Mentorship activity. This allows you to send a message to your proposed mentor.
Do one of the following:
- To save the mentorship activity and send the email, enter the information in the email form and click Save and Send.
- To save the mentorship activity without sending the email, click Save and Skip Notification.
- To select a mentor at a later time, click Cancel. The mentorship activity will still be saved. When you are ready to select a mentor, you can open the mentor activity and complete.
